Commerce Bancshares recognized among top five in Bank Director’s RankingBanking study
St. Louis, MO – Commerce Bancshares placed fifth overall on Bank Director’s annual RankingBanking study, an analysis of the largest 300 publicly traded banks based on profitability, capital adequacy and credit quality data. This marks Commerce’s fourth recognition in the study, reflecting a continued strong presence among top performing banks.
RankingBanking, sponsored by Crowe LLP and analyzed by Piper Sandler & Co., used year-end 2024 data from S&P Global Market Intelligence. To measure performance, as defined by S&P, banks were scored on core return on average assets, core return on average equity, tangible common equity to tangible assets, and nonperforming assets to loans and other real estate owned. These scores were then combined to determine overall rankings, which placed Commerce fifth on the list of the top 25 banks overall.
"It’s an honor to be recognized by Bank Director as one of the top five banks in the country,” said John Kemper, president and chief executive officer, Commerce Bank. “For 160 years, we’ve combined financial discipline with a deep commitment to our customers and communities, and this recognition affirms the long-term value we strive to deliver to our shareholders every day.”
